That's a cracking comment. I will. I have two books of shorts, a trilogy and a novel all nearing completion, which will be going on Amazon over the next year too, but I'll keep doing the Substack ones as it's very encouraging and motivating getting reviews. Thanks for reading.
So true, it’s the guilt we have to carry from all the deceit that’s so painful. It’s always the one closest to us that hurt the most. Been to that place and still trying to redeem myself and make amends to my mum . Got nuff empathy with this work. Big love bruv, you keep it real and keep the words flowing.
Manny, if you're on your 'holiday', read 'Whatever Happened to Hunting' or 'Lizard Jane' - they'll take you back to some places you don't want to go to again. Best wishes.
Nice one, Manny - the best amends tend to be changing. You can say sorry a thousand times, but being a different person and doing different things makes a real impact. You can't change the past, but you can change the present. Thanks for reading and leaving a comment.
I loved this part "so tripping balls, we joined a small queue at the Portaloo, grinning our teeth loose and trying not to laugh ourselves dead due to the simple fact we were standing near other humans and they might try something hideous like try to engage us in conversation."
I can remember being in similar situations where all i wanted to do was laugh at how serious everybody else appeared. The occasional trip seemed to help me out for the following weeks
Thanks for reading and leaving a comment. There's a kind of seemingly unavoidable arrogance to tripping. Not that you've suddenly sussed out how the world works, but a definite sense that you're seeing human behaviour somewhat exposed in a way those around you have not. But it's interesting that you mention the occasional trip helping you out, there's a little moment in my latest offering (to be published this week) where the benefits of an occasional trip is briefly, but significantly discussed.
Fair's fair. Although I have a good friend who still feels huge regret after tying a rope across a back road through the woods and taking down a motorcyclist. Not nice, could have killed him. Who puts trip wires on the street? Probably my mate as he was working his way up.
I remember a woman having a seizure, she also had callipers, made a right racket on the laminate flooring😂😂😂 that was a normal detox at hope house. Nice one x
I would say call me Chris but that confuses me as a new YouTube sub. It meant a lot when you laughed at me calling myself a fellow gobshite the other day, making people laugh makes life worthwhile. Just call me Brink like my dad used to, I'll call you Danger 😄. Love to Kentbodia, from Lincs x
No worries, Brinks. it was only the local psychopaths that called me 'Danger', which is acceptable, I wasn't going to challenge them, although I did have quite an effective 'no violence' policy arranged with a few of them which they stuck to, more or less.
Mate, I know you can't take requests and your community on YouTube is golden for support. Just wish I'd met you in a pub when we were younger so I could just tell you how hilariously bad life is getting. Nevermind, you're a sweetheart and I hope you have a quiet day and a riot every time you laugh. Cheers mate
Thank you, Sarah, I'm half way through another one which I'm hoping to get out today (maybe tomorrow) glad you're enjoying them - share the link with a friend etc and thanks for reading.
Reminds me of the time I fitted in detox, in the back of the ambulance I vaugley remember getting someone to get clean jeans from my rooms I'd wet myself while spazzing out on the ground. Happy times :{?
As always wonderful work Chris hope this finds you well and you are doing great my friend miss seeing you every morning hope to talk to you soon take care
First they'll go on Amazon in compilations of short stories. If they do well, I'll definitely look into audiobooks. Nice one Shell, and thanks for reading.
Nice one David. Same answer as above. The problem with reading is I will start improvising, and a 4000 word piece will be about two hours long. But I might see if there's any decent places in Phnom Penh where they do that sort of thing. Thanks for reading.
Cheers, Mike - you wrote a couple more replies and although you deleted them from here I have them in my emails. I'll respond to them privately. Thanks for reading.
In the 90s all I wanted to do was read, then I ran out of worthwhile things to read. Please keep the stories coming.

My mate's mum fell down a hill. Someone had actually put a tripwire there. Even she had to laugh.

Brilliant, really enjoyed that.
Thank you Chris, It's appreciated. Spread the good news around. #Shill

Thanks for reading Liz. I think context has an effect. Somewhere like a detox, anything out of the groundhog day of treatment is a real bonus.
Top stuff me old entrail! See you on your next stream
Thanks for reading Christopher and leaving a comment, glad you enjoyed it.

Another excellent read Chris like others have said I can nearly hear you telling these stories. Look forward to the next hope you keeping well.

Yeah, it's either a number one, number two or number three as it were. I'd rather have the seizure than the job of pushing the diazepam up there.
As always wonderful work Chris hope this finds you well and you are doing great my friend miss seeing you every morning hope to talk to you soon take care
Hello Allan - I ight do a cheeky one later this week, but not in the morning. Thanks for reading and I hope you're well.
Brilliant, are you going to release on audio books, I miss your voice 💔
